Project 365 Day 1 - 3/8/13

This post will be the first of 365 daily posts where I intend to take and upload a photo every day for the next year. This is nothing new, many photographers are already embarking on year long projects and there are websites dedicated to it too.

In my project 365 I want my daily photo to be of something or someone I've never photographed or something photographed in a way or style I've not used before, the hardest part is going to be remembering to do it every day.

So here it is, the first photo...

I've been meaning to have a proper try at photographing the night sky for a while now, tonight I was experimenting with settings and definitely need to think how I could improve composing night shots. It also wasn't the ideal night as it was fairly cloudy but I like the way that combined with the long exposure time the clouds movement is captured. I will definitely be trying this again...

  1. Wicked. I love how the stars pop. A cool one to try is a really long exposure (10mins or so if your camera has the option to keep the shutter open indefinately) with the camera facing up and you capture the stars moving. Get photocrafty its a really cool book for about a tenner off amazon with loads of fun stuff to do jogs the creativeness on those down days x x

    1. I want to try that too, I think the bulb mode on my nikon is limited to 8 minutes. I've read people take lots of 30 second exposures and then composite them to get the star trails too.

Will defo give photocrafty a look...
